Hey there Chuk here.

This year I decided to join an event called art fight. What's art fight? Well it's this yearly event that spans the entire month of July where participants draw other people's characters. Participants are split into teams where they compete for the most points. Similar to one of my favorite shows 'Whose Line Is It Anway' the points don't matter! Art fight provides people the opportunity to do essentially make fanart of each other's original characters. Flattering idea.

I think I heard about art fight back in 2025 from some art streamers I watched, but I didn't participate because I just didn't know much about it at the time. This year I decided to jump in to see if I'd like it. In the beginning I didn't know what to do, so I just started compiling a list of characters from the recently submitted section. Given time restrictions from my schedule I ended up choosing only a handful that appealed to me most. I managed to eek out four illustrations. Not bad if I do say so myself considering the life obligations of a fulltime job, a long commute, and a job hunt.

Since these illustrations weren't commissions or anything serious I didn't feel too pressured in making them perfect, but I still did my best. I felt that I could've worked up the illustrations better here and there, but that's par for the course when it comes to making art. It felt great to do illustrations for a change instead of animating for the overlay which I find myself doing a lot of lately.

Overall doing art fight was quite fun and I'm glad I did it. I might even consider casually participating again in the future.

If you never took part in art fight before here are a few reasons to consider it:

  1. You get the opportunity to draw a lot of interestingly designed characters. Since you don't have to invent the character from scratch you can just enjoy the drawing process.
  2. Honestly it feels pretty good when the person who received your art likes it.
  3. You might get art of your characters! It's very flattering to receive art of your characters. I even received a few!
  4. Could be good for networking. Ok for this one I'm not sure if you're going to meet anyone who has connections in the industry, but maybe you'll make some friends in the art community. Who knows where this could take you, but you have to try.

So if you've never heard of art fight well there you go. It's a one month of the year event to promote creativity and art by drawing other people's characters as you envision it. It's all in good fun, so shouldn't be taken too seriously.

I know I have a dedicated blog, but I think going forward I'll be putting blog type content on fourthwall. This will make it easier for people to find my other stuff if they're here. I want posts such as these that chronicle my experiences to be free without an account, whereas any behind the scenes content will remain a premium.

If you have any feedback you can always leave it in the comments.

Thank you for reading and consider following to stay in touch. It's free to follow!

My first set of button pins are now available! Check out the images to see what they look under white light. 'm really happy with how these turned out. They look pretty much how they do on my monitor. These are only the 1.25" diameter size.

The issue I found with the larger pin was that once the image is placed fourthwall automatically sets it for the other size. As a result the image placement of the larger pin looked a bit off. Would be cool if you could design it separately. Might check it again later to see if missed something.

AMAZING BUTTON PINS HERE!
